This Holiday Eggnog French Toast combines the cozy flavors of traditional eggnog with the comforting essence of golden-brown French toast. It’s a delightful way to celebrate the festive season with family and friends.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Thick slices of brioche or challah (or whole grain bread)
  • 1 cup of eggnog
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
  • 12 tablespoons of unsalted butter (or coconut oil or vegan butter for dairy-free option)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 1 cup of eggnog, 2 large eggs, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, and 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg until well combined.
  2. Cut thick slices of your chosen bread, about 1 inch thick.
  3. Dip each slice of bread into the eggnog mixture, ensuring both sides are coated. Allow the bread to soak for about 30 seconds to 1 minute.
  4. In a large skillet or griddle, melt 1-2 tablespoons of unsalted butter over medium heat until it’s bubbling but not browned.
  5. Place the soaked bread slices onto the skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
  6. As you finish cooking each slice, keep them warm in a preheated oven at 200°F (93°C) until you’re ready to serve.
  7. Stack the French toast on plates and drizzle with maple syrup or a dusting of powdered sugar. Garnish with whipped cream or a sprinkle of cinnamon.
