Delicious Smash Burger Bowl Recipe for Burger Lovers!

The Smash Burger Bowl is a hearty and vibrant dish that captures all the classic flavors of a smash burger without the heaviness of a bun. It’s customizable and perfect for any occasion, making it a must-try for burger enthusiasts!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 80/20 ground beef
  • croutons or rice or quinoa (for the base)
  • shredded lettuce
  • diced tomatoes
  • pickles
  • cheese
  • avocado (optional)
  • jalapeños (optional)
  • ketchup
  • mustard
  • BBQ sauce (optional)
  • spicy aioli (optional)
  • Greek yogurt (as a healthier substitute for mayonnaise)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your skillet over medium-high heat. Take a handful of ground beef (about 4 ounces) and form it into a loose ball. Place it on the hot skillet, then use a spatula to smash it down firmly. This helps create those crispy edges that make smash burgers so delicious. Season with salt and pepper.
  2. After about 2-3 minutes, once a crust has formed, carefully flip the burger. If you're adding cheese, place a slice on top and cover the skillet for about a minute to let the cheese melt.
  3. While the burger is cooking, prepare your bowl base. If using rice or quinoa, cook according to package instructions. If you’re opting for lettuce wraps, chop the lettuce into bite-sized pieces.
  4. In a large bowl, add your base (rice, quinoa, or lettuce). Slice the cooked smash burger and place it on top. Add your desired toppings such as shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, pickles, and any other favorites.
  5. Drizzle your chosen condiments over the top. I love a good squirt of ketchup and mustard along with a dollop of Greek yogurt for creaminess.

Nutrition

Keywords: For the best texture, handle the ground beef as little as possible. Feel free to add garlic powder, onion powder, or smoked paprika to your beef for extra flavor. This dish is incredibly versatile; switch up the base and toppings according to seasonal ingredients or personal preference.
