- Chocolate pudding mix

- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, eggs, vegetable oil, and hot water. Beat the mixture for about 2 minutes until it’s smooth and well combined.
- Fold in the chocolate pudding mix until fully incorporated.
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- While the cakes cool, prepare the filling by mixing the whipped topping with half of the chocolate chips. You can also add a bit of vanilla extract for extra flavor.
- Once the cakes have cooled, place one layer on a serving platter. Spread the whipped topping mixture over the top. Place the second cake layer on top and press down gently.
